Never Skip A Song Again.

Brave New Mix Club is a members-only indie rock channel: three handpicked 90-minute indie rock mixes a month, the best new indie rock alongside the vintage songs you never stopped loving. Find your next favorite band — without the endless searching.

The stack of records

At KCRW, you'd get handed a stack of records and a few minutes to decide.

No artist name. No genre tag. No "fans of X also like Y." You couldn't check the numbers, because there were no numbers. You had a turntable, a pair of headphones, and one question you had to answer honestly:

Does this stop me?

If it didn't, it went in the no pile. If it did, it went on the air — and a few thousand people heard a record they'd never heard of at the exact moment I did.

That's the whole job. It isn't complicated. It's just slow, and it takes a person.

Your ear isn’t broken. Your supply is

You've got good taste. You know inside thirty seconds whether a song is for you.

That's exactly the problem.

You're a great filter with nothing to filter. Nobody hands you enough good records to say yes to, so you spend your commute saying no — twenty times in a row — to playlists built for everyone in the world.

There's no shortage of music. 38 million new songs came out this year. What's missing is someone who's trained their ear to say no a thousand times, so the only thing that reaches you is the one worth your yes.

What actually changes

You stop scrolling.

You press play once — on the train, at your desk, in the studio — and you don't touch your phone for ninety minutes. You save a band name. You text a song to a friend who replies "This is great, who is this?" You hum something new while you work and get through an entire afternoon without opening a single app.

That's the joy of discovery, coming back. The best way there is to add something good to an ordinary day.

And you're the person who knows the new bands again — the one people ask for recommendations. Always in the know about the stuff nobody's heard of yet.

Which, if we're being honest, is the part you actually missed.

What the Club is

A members' channel on Mixcloud, run by one person with a very good ear.

Three full-length mixes a month, curated by hand and sequenced as one continuous listen — built for a commute, a deep work block, a long drive. Not shuffled. Not algorithmically assembled.

It exists because finding your next favorite band was never a time-management problem. It was a filter problem. And filters don't scale — they're made by people who've spent years learning the difference between a song that's technically good and a song that stops you.

What members get

Three full 90-minute mixes a month hosted on Mixcloud

Liner notes with every mix. The tracklist, what I heard in each standout, why it made the cut. An algorithm can tell you what's playing. It can't tell you why it mattered.

Two of the three never go public. The free version of one mix is a 40-minute cut. The rest is members-only.

The archives. Every mix I've made, in one place, always there while you're a member.

The Shortlist. A live playlist of every album I've loved, updated all year — on Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube.

Always something you haven't heard. Every mix is built around at least one record I'd be surprised you already knew.

Plus offline listening in the app, and a Quick Start Guide so you're up and running on Mixcloud in five minutes.

Why this exists

Since leaving KCRW, I've been lucky enough to music supervise some incredible films and television shows. But do you know what I've missed the most?

Making mixes for indie rock fans.

Introducing someone to a song they didn't know they needed. Connecting the dots between old favorites and new discoveries. Being part of that moment when a listener falls in love with an artist for the very first time.

Simply put, discovering music is one of the best ways to add joy to your day. And I want to be the one to bring it to you.

Because it's fun.

What it costs and why

$16.95 a month.

Before you compare it to a streaming plan: every mix on this channel plays licensed music, and the artists and songwriters get paid for it. Mixcloud publishes the split — 65% of what you pay goes to the artists and songwriters in the mixes. That's why these live on Mixcloud instead of arriving in your inbox as a file.

Which is the honest reason it isn't free. Curation takes time, and keeping it legal costs money. Spotify gives you robotic curation and charges up to $26 a month. This is a person with an ear, for less than half that.

The founding rate holds for the first 100 members — and closes on [DATE] either way. After that it's $24.95.

Mixcloud locks your rate the day you join, so your $16.95 stays $16.95 for as long as you're a member.

Founding members also get

The complete 2026 Shortlist. A finished year of listening — every album I loved this year, in one list, on Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube. It's already done, and it's yours from the moment you join.

The honest terms

Mixcloud handles the billing and doesn't allow refunds. So rather than bury it in a footnote, I'll say it plainly: $16.95 a month, no money-back, cancel anytime.

Which means you should decide before you pay, not after. That's why there are free mixes on my channel right now — go listen to one first. If thirty seconds in you're not interested, don't join. I'd rather you join certain than curious.

Questions

How is this different from my streaming algorithm? An algorithm is a mirror. It shows you more of what you already play. A person can surprise you. That's the whole difference — and it's the reason you're still skipping twenty songs in a row.

What if I'm picky? Good. This isn't for people who'll listen to anything. It's for people who skip twenty songs in a row because nineteen aren't good enough.

How often do mixes come? Three a month, roughly every ten days. Each one is 90 minutes, sequenced as a single listen.

What happens if I cancel? You lose access to the channel, the archive and your offline downloads. Your rate goes too — rejoining means paying whatever the price is then.

Life is too short for bad music

You can keep scrolling. You can open a fourth app and skip another fourteen songs. Or you can hand the hunting to someone who's spent decades learning how to say no.

Three mixes a month. Ninety minutes each. Two of them you'll never hear anywhere else.
